Caterina is a resident of Chamberfield. She immigrated to America from Italy as a teenager and retains a noticeable accent. After settling in New England, she met her husband, an immigrant from Mexico, with whom she had several litters of kittens, including her youngest daughter, Maribelle. Maribelle and her son, Carlos, live with Caterina, but Caterina’s son-in-law Nolan only visits occasionally. Caterina lost her husband when Maribelle and her littermates were very young and the family struggled with money as a result. However, Caterina soon became friends with Gloriana Brown, a fellow mother who empathized with her situation.
